Dr. Maggie Turp is a qualified and experienced psychotherapist registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Her practice is in Kilburn, Northwest London, easily accessible by public transport and with provision for car parking. She offers both in-depth psychotherapy and shorter periods of counselling.
The process begins with one or two initial sessions - as a 'taster' and in order to consider with the client whether counselling or therapy is likely to be a helpful way forward.
The fee for each 50 minute session is £55.
Maggie helps clients to think about and make sense of a variety of life problems, relationship problems, distressed emotional states and psychosomatic conditions, including unexplained symptoms, poor self-care and other food and health-related issues.
In addition to her clinical work, Maggie is an experienced supervisor of counsellors and psychotherapists in private practice and in primary care and a well-known trainer in working with self-harming behaviour, eating disorders and troubling physical symptoms.
She is an established lecturer in the field and the author of several journal papers and two books:
Psychosomatic Health: the body and the word (London:Palgrave)
and
Hidden Self-Harm: narratives from Psychotherapy (London: Jessica Kingsley).
